1. You are relieved to find out that the play is only 90 minutes long
  2. You know which 'restricted view' seats are actually not very restricted
  3. You know the quick route to the loos to beat the interval queue or in the case of the National, which loos to go to where there is never a queue
  4. Some of the actors you get excited about seeing on stage your non-theatre friends have never heard of
  5. You join discussions on Twitter about the various merits of the different theatres membership schemes.
  6. You share membership schemes with theatre friends to save money.
  7. Getting into town to sit on the cold step of a theatre for two hours or more to secure a day seat doesn't seem mad.
  8. You'll jump on a train for two hours to attend a matinee outside London
  9. You buy tickets for whole seasons in one go and get a little bit stressed
  10. You discuss ticket buying trials and tribulations on Twitter.
  11. Actor/director spotting in the audience becomes an almost regular occurrence and you have at least one story to tell about when you sat next to/behind/in front of someone famous
  12. You recognise the theatre critics.

OK what have I missed, there must be loads more?

You get excited when you find out who the movement director will be in a play
You know the theatre by the design of the ticket and without needing to see its name printed (nice collage by the way)
You can find which dates are not sold out for Donmar at the ATG website
You get excited by the Christmas National theatre quiz

Haven’t quite got to no. 13 just yet and thank you re: the collage
And regarding number 16 have you booked????
    Here a couple more:
    17. When you check the actors bio’s in the programme you check theatre credits before TV and Film.
    18. You’ll take an afternoon off work to go to a rehearsed reading or a week day matinee.

You don’t think seeing two or three shows in one day is in anyway strange or worthy of particular mention.
You book to see a previews as a matter of course to save money/form your own opinion without hearing too much about the play.
You think there aren’t enough Simon Stevens plays around at the moment.
You’ve booked for a show you don’t even particularly want to see or like because it’s from a particular venue/production company/director.

All very good and very true although until you mentioned Simon Stephens I hadn’t put two and two together about his body of work.

Very funny. These are all signs that you are at the theatre almost as often as the actors. It has not happened yet but it may be because I have to be watching my theatre budget. There are lots of good things that I want to see in this season so I hope to catch at least a few of them.
One point though-weekday matinees are usually cheaper so I don’t see that as going to the theatre too often. It’s just a good way of spending money to enjoy a show.
Add in “you know what brand of hand soap they use in the loo”.
